A Robust and Simple Measure for Quality-Guided 2D Phase Unwrapping Algorithms

ABSTRACT:

Quality-based mostly 2D section unwrapping algorithms provide one of the simplest tradeoffs between speed and quality of results. Their robustness depends on a quality map, that is used to make a path that visits the foremost reliable pixels initial. Unwrapping then proceeds along this path, delaying unwrapping of noisy and inconsistent areas till the tip, thus that the unwrapping errors remain native. We tend to propose a novel quality measure that's consistent, technically sound, effective, quick to compute, and resistant to the presence of a carrier signal. The new live combines the benefits of both the standard-guided and therefore the residue-based section unwrapping approaches. The quality map is justified from the two completely different theoretical points of read. Exhaustive tests on a selection of artificially generated and real 2D wrapped part signals illustrate its potential usefulness in the field of fringe projection profilometry.
