PROJECT TITLE :
A Modified DC Power Electronic Transformer Based on Series Connection of Full-Bridge Converters
ABSTRACT:
It is proposed in this research to use a new dc Power Electronic transformer (DCPET) topology for isolated medium- and high-voltage and high-power applications in locomotives, ac/dc hybrid grids, and dc distribution networks. With fewer power semiconductor devices and high-frequency isolation transformers, the proposed DCPET topology has a higher power density and more reliability. When some dc-dc modules fail, further reliability can be provided by fault handling or redundancy design. For added stability and simplicity, the input voltage sharing control can be deleted. All switches, however, have soft switching built in, which allows for higher switching frequencies and greater power density. In this study, the proposed DCPET's principle, evolution, and control are given and investigated in great detail. A working prototype of the suggested DCPET has been constructed, and the experimental findings show that the topology is both valid and preferable.
