PROJECT TITLE :

Double threshold-based cooperative spectrum sensing for a cognitive radio network with improved energy detectors

ABSTRACT:

Performance of cooperative spectrum sensing in an exceedingly cognitive radio (CR) network is investigated where every CR node uses an improved energy detector (IED) to sense the first user (PU), and makes a native call concerning the presence of PU using double thresholds (DTHs). The native laborious choices are combined at fusion centre (FC) to get the world decision. The advantage of a DTH-based mostly system over a single threshold based one is, a CR node can choose no call when a decision variable lies in the fuzzy zone between 2 thresholds. Such censoring reduces the transmission overhead between CR and FC while not significantly affecting the receiver operating characteristics. During this study, the performance of the abovementioned CR network has been assessed in terms of the common variety of normalised transmitted sensing bits (knor), the overall error chance (Pe,n) and optimal range of CR users that ensures minimum Pe,n. It was observed that knor will increase as the signal power raise factor of IED will increase or failed sensing likelihood decreases. Further, the agility of the network improves because the PU death rate will increase. Impact of reporting channel on the sensing performance has additionally been indicated.
