Control Strategy for Single-Phase Transformerless Three-Leg Unified Power Quality Conditioner Based on Space Vector Modulation PROJECT TITLE :Control Strategy for Single-Phase Transformerless Three-Leg Unified Power Quality Conditioner Based on Space Vector ModulationABSTRACT:The unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) is referred to as an effective compensation device to boost PQ for sensitive finish-users. This paper investigates the operation and control of a single-phase three-leg UPQC (TL-UPQC), where a unique area vector modulation technique is proposed for naturally solving the coupling downside introduced by the common switching leg. The modulation technique is the same as the well-known house vector modulation widely used with 3-phase voltage source converters, which thus brings further flexibility to the TL-UPQC system. Two optimized modulation modes with either reduced switching loss or harmonic distortion are derived, evaluated, and mentioned, so as to demonstrate the flexibility brought by the house vector modulated TL-UPQC. Simulations and experimental results are presented to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed house vector modulation approach and two mentioned modulation modes.
