A Modified RLS Algorithm for Online Estimation of Low-Frequency Oscillations in Power Systems PROJECT TITLE :A Modified RLS Algorithm for Online Estimation of Low-Frequency Oscillations in Power SystemsABSTRACT:A number of methods are proposed and implemented to boost system damping against low-frequency electromechanical oscillations in the ability system. Among these, versatile ac transmission systems (FACTS) will be used to supply power oscillation damping (POD) function to the Power System. The planning of the POD algorithms in these devices needs estimation of the ability oscillation frequency elements and this is principally achieved through the utilization of varied filter combinations. However, these filter-primarily based solutions are characterised by low bandwidth to extract the desired signal elements accurately, and this limits the dynamic performance of the FACTS controllers. Moreover, the filters are designed for specific frequencies, and a amendment within the system would scale back the performance of the strategies. Thus, there is a need for a higher estimation algorithm with fast and selective estimation of the specified signal that is strong against system parameter uncertainties. In this paper, this can be achieved by the utilization of a recursive least sq. algorithm that uses variable forgetting issue and a frequency adaptation mechanism. The investigated methodology has quick estimation in transient conditions without compromising its selectivity in steady state. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proven through simulation as well as experimental verification. Did you like this research project?
