Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor for Electric Field Measurement in the End Windings of High-Voltage Electric Machines PROJECT TITLE :Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor for Electric Field Measurement in the End Windings of High-Voltage Electric MachinesABSTRACT:This paper reports proof-of-principle of an optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) operating as an electrical field sensor. The system relies on a semiconductor diode laser, emitting around 1577.5 nm that interrogates the fiber sensor around its maximum reflectivity purpose. The applying of a robust electrical field causes a small variation of the optical path length of the waveguide because of electrostriction and so perturbs the grating peak reflectivity wavelength. Calibration and dynamic vary tests are performed using a parallel-plate capacitor to form a variable electrical field (1-one hundred kV/cm). A great potential is known in view of doable field applications for voltage graduation in power generators. Did you like this research project?
