Cost-Efficient Frequency-Domain MIMO–OFDM Modem With an SIMD ALU-Based Architecture

ABSTRACT:

During this paper, a single instruction multiple information (SIMD) arithmetic logic unit (ALU)-based mostly architecture is proposed to enhance hardware potency in a frequency-domain multiple input multiple output–orthogonal frequency division multiplexing modem based mostly on a space-time block code (STBC). The majority of mathematic units in the proposed architecture are centralized thus that any mathematic unit can be shared with any algorithm. Six advanced directions also are defined within the ALU: 1) complicated multiplication; two) advanced division; 3) correlation; four) channel estimation; five) matrix inversion; and six) STBC-primarily based decoding. A scheduler is important to handle all data ways and signaling flows smoothly with the utilization of an SIMD ALU. Thence, it's comparatively easy to reconfigure the proposed design for different specifications. The very large scale integration implementation of this chip, using an in-house 65-nm CMOS process, consumes a complete of one.87 M gates and draws thirty three.7 mW at a offer voltage of one V.
