The notes in the first half of the book go into great detail on switching power supply realization. Switching power supply realization is one of the great training grounds in engineering as it incorporates control theory, component limitations, layout effects, tricky measurements for speed and noise, and the need to design for a wide range of real-world specifications. Sections are also included on linear regulator design and powering optical components such as static sensitive lasers and thermoelectric coolers. Another excellent area for a broad education is building data conversion circuits. Application notes also include alot of information on data conversion history and verification.
