PROJECT TITLE :

IMS Student Design Competitions

ABSTRACT:

The student design competitions held at the IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS) each year have been one of the most successful innovations of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) in the past ten years. In just a few years, this contest has grown from a single competition (the High-Efficiency Power Amplifier Design Competition in 2005) to over ten distinct competitions in 2012, involving the participation of 17 MTT Technical Committees and hundreds of students from all over the globe. The competitions are unique events that challenge the creativity, competitive spirit, and enthusiasm of the students. They offer tough problems that are designed to exercise the creativity of the students. The enthusiasm of the participants is evident and tangible. This is an encouraging sign of the future health of the Society and of the radio frequency (RF) and microwave industry in general.
