A Reliability Evaluation of Offshore HVDC Grid Configuration Options

ABSTRACT:

This paper details a technique for investigating the reliability of different offshore grid style choices for the association of offshore wind power to shore. The methodology uses a sequential Monte Carlo-based mostly technique that allows the investigation of realistic offshore phenomena, such as the weather dependency of component repair times. A range of case studies are examined for the association to shore of a cluster of way offshore wind farms and a value benefit analysis is performed that compares the capital prices, electrical losses, and reliability of every.
