Generator coherency and area detection in large power systems PROJECT TITLE :Generator coherency and area detection in large Power SystemsABSTRACT :This study provides a new general approach for outlining coherent generators in Power Systems based on the coherency in low-frequency inter-space modes. The disturbance is taken into account to be distributed within the network by applying random load changes which is that the random walk illustration of real loads instead of one fault and coherent generators are obtained by spectrum analysis of the generators velocity variations. So as to find the coherent areas and their borders within the inter-connected networks, non-generating buses are assigned to every group of coherent generator using similar coherency detection techniques. The method is evaluated on two check systems and coherent generators and areas are obtained for different operating points to supply a more accurate grouping approach that is valid across a vary of realistic operating points of the system.
