Understanding Motivations for Using Grocery Shopping Applications

ABSTRACT:

Looking for groceries in stores has remained nearly the identical for many years, without a lot of technological support. In recent years, searching applications have finally started to gain popularity. In this text, the authors investigate why and how folks use these applications. They present a case study of Foodie.fi, a common grocery shopping application in Finland that allows users to arrange meals and compile searching lists to reinforce their in-store shopping expertise, in addition to shopping online. The authors gift the results of an online survey for registered users of the service. The analysis revealed three main motivations for using the service: holistic meal planning, using an external memory aid, and on-line looking. In addition, the authors compare the employment of grocery looking applications for in-store and on-line shopping and explore totally different things in that the applying is used. The study shows that integrating a recipe service into the grocery looking application can interact users and additionally enhance their diets toward additional versatile and healthy directions.
