Blockchain-based Product Recall Traceability System PROJECT TITLE : Blockchain-based Traceability System for Product Recall ABSTRACT: In this paper, a Blockchain-based framework involving a traceability system for product recall (TSPR) is proposed. The goal of this framework is to develop a traceability system that is integrated into the product recall system and deployed to Ethereum. This will ensure that all stakeholders have full transparency and visibility throughout the recall process. The proposed system integrates all four stakeholders into a single chain. This includes supply chain (SC) participants, the food safety regulatory system, the administration, and end customers. Individual components will be developed as part of the proposed TSPR system in order to provide authorized stakeholders with information regarding product recall data and status, as well as product traceability events. These details will be stored on a Blockchain. Additionally, the entity relationship diagram as well as the activity diagram for the TSPR system are developed. Using Remix IDE and the Ethereum test network, the experiment develops three smart contracts for the TSPR system. These smart contracts will be run on the test network. A scenario of the events that will occur in the SC regarding product traceability and recall is developed. The correct operation of the contract as well as the measurement of gas costs are both used as criteria to test the validity of the contracts. The findings demonstrate the validity of three smart contracts, ensuring that the stakeholder chain is provided with visibility and transparency for the product recall procedure in particular. In addition, the total cost of gas used in the TSPR system running on Ethereum Mainnet is $ 30.23 for the regulator and $ 111.54 for the manufacturer. These figures are presented in the table below. Nevertheless, when utilizing the Polygon Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), the gas cost remains $ 0.022 and $ 0.083, respectively; consequently, this system for stakeholders may assist them in achieving lower costs and increased economic worth.
