Silence is Gold: Strategic Interference Mitigation Using Tokens in Heterogeneous Small Cell Networks

PROJECT TITLE :

Silence is Gold: Strategic Interference Mitigation Using Tokens in Heterogeneous Small Cell Networks

ABSTRACT:

Electronic tokens are successfully used as incentive mechanisms to stimulate self-interested network nodes to relay alternative nodes' traffic. In alternative words, tokens are paid to buy transmission (relaying) services. During this work, we tend to propose a completely unique distributed token exchange framework, that can be used in heterogeneous tiny cell networks to successfully mitigate interference among the self-interested users. Contrary to the ancient role of shopping for transmission, tokens are exchanged between users to buy silence. Heterogeneity poses unique challenges for interference mitigation, that are difficult to handle with previous solutions but will be effectively tackled with the proposed token design. This paper focuses on the rigorous design of the optimal token scheme that minimizes the system outage probability. We tend to 1st analyze the optimal ways of individual users, which solely take into account their own utility maximization and don't care regarding the system-wise performance. We prove that below some mild conditions the optimal strategy has a easy threshold structure. We tend to then analytically derive the optimal token offer that minimizes the network outage chance. Analysis shows that whether or not each user adopts the optimal strategy that only maximizes its own utility, a careful token system style will lead to a important overall network performance improvement. Simulation results show that not only does the proposed token system style greatly improve the network outage probability, it also improves the network QoS, notably when the deployment density is high.
