PROJECT TITLE :

Tuning-Range Enhancement Through Deterministic Mode Selection in RF Quadrature Oscillators

ABSTRACT:

Quadrature oscillators (QOs) primarily based on parallel or series coupling mechanisms turn out ambiguous phase relationships between the coupled oscillators. Deterministic mode selection is presented and analyzed for a series-coupled quadrature oscillator ( -QO) and leveraged to extend the tuning vary of the QO. Series-coupled -QOs have been implemented in an exceedingly 90-nm CMOS technology. Measured results show a frequency tuning vary of 94p.c for a center frequency of 1.3 GHz, sixty% for the oscillator operating at three.seven GHz, and 52% for the oscillator operating at four.4 GHz.
