PROJECT TITLE :

CloudNet: Dynamic Pooling of Cloud Resources by Live WAN Migration of Virtual Machines

ABSTRACT:

Virtualization technology and the convenience with which virtual machines (VMs) can be migrated inside the LAN have modified the scope of resource management from allocating resources on one server to manipulating pools of resources among a information center. We tend to expect WAN migration of virtual machines to likewise transform the scope of provisioning resources from a single information center to multiple knowledge centers unfold across the country or around the globe. During this paper, we gift the CloudNet design consisting of Cloud Computing platforms linked with a virtual non-public network (VPN)-primarily based network infrastructure to supply seamless and secure connectivity between enterprise and cloud data center sites. To understand our vision of efficiently pooling geographically distributed knowledge center resources, CloudNet provides optimized support for live WAN migration of virtual machines. Specifically, we present a group of optimizations that minimize the cost of transferring storage and virtual machine memory during migrations over low bandwidth and high-latency Web links. We have a tendency to evaluate our system on an operational cloud platform distributed across the continental US. Throughout simultaneous migrations of 4 VMs between data centers in Texas and Illinois, CloudNet's optimizations reduce memory migration time by 65percent and lower bandwidth consumption for the storage and memory transfer by 19 GB, a fiftyp.c reduction.
