PROJECT TITLE :

Underwater Acoustic Modems

ABSTRACT:

Because of the growing interest using underwater acoustic networks, there are far more and more analysis papers about underwater Communications. These papers are mainly centered on deployments and studies about the constraints of the underwater medium. The underwater acoustic channel is very variable and the signal transmission can modification in keeping with environmental factors, like the temperature, pressure, or salinity of the water. For this reason, it's important to grasp how these devices are developed and the maximum distance and information transfer rates they will achieve. To this finish, this paper presents an exhaustive study of existing underwater acoustic modems where their main features are highlighted. We additionally review the most features of their hardware. All presented proposals within the research literature are compared with industrial underwater acoustic modems. Finally, we analyze completely different programs and enhancements of existing network simulators that are usually used to simulate and estimate the behavior of underwater networks.
