Accelerated simulation-driven design optimisation of compact couplers by means of two-level space mapping PROJECT TITLE :Accelerated simulation-driven design optimisation of compact couplers by means of two-level space mappingABSTRACT:During this study, the authors discuss a strong and efficient technique for rapid design of compact couplers. The approach exploits 2-level area mapping (SM) correction of constant circuit model of the coupler structure under style. The first SM layer (local correction) is utilised to ensure smart matching between the equivalent circuit and therefore the electromagnetic model at the component level. Subsequent international correction permits for accounting the electromagnetic couplings between the parts. The necessary advantage of two-level model correction is that small range of parameter is utilised at every stage, that substantially simplifies and accelerates the parameters extraction procedure. Another advantage is that the local-world SM ends up in considerably better generalisation capability of the surrogate model (as compared to standard SM). This results in improved reliability of the optimisation process and its reduced computational value. The proposed technique is validated using an example of 2 compact microstrip rat-race couplers and compared with alternative surrogate-based optimisation techniques.
