Application of Multiobjective Topology Optimization to Miniature Ultrawideband Antennas With Enhanced Pulse Preservation

ABSTRACT:

This letter presents an application of multiobjective topology optimization to ultrawideband (UWB) antenna style. The design of UWB antennas is very challenging as a result of it involves multiple style goals including miniaturization, a good impedance bandwidth, uniform gain variation, and enhanced time-domain pulse preservation. Though topology optimization has been a in style approach for UWB antenna style, a multiobjective version that systematically copes with all the planning details is critically lacking, and the first attempts haven't been very successful. In this letter, we tend to propose a Pareto-based mostly technique for multiobjective topology optimization, showing that the proposed methodology facilitates the event of a UWB antenna with compact size, a large bandwidth, uniform gain variation, and high fidelity factors. The optimized UWB antenna occupies a tiny area of fifteen ×15 mm2, showing excellent impedance matching and stable broadside gains throughout 3.1-10.vi GHz. Additionally, the variation of group delay drops dramatically from 0.94 to zero.40 ns, and also the fidelity factor is enhanced from around zero.eighty to 0.92. The simulated and measured results are exhibited, confirming the validity of multiobjective topology optimization.
