A CLCL Resonant DC/DC Converter for Two-Stage LED Driver System

ABSTRACT:

A CLCL resonant dc/dc converter has been proposed and analyzed in this paper for two-stage light-weight-emitting diode (LED) drivers. The circuit performs zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) flip-on and quasi-zero-current-switching (ZCS) flip-off. Then, a 2-stage system has been designed employing a power factor correction circuit before the proposed converter. Optimum input impedance angle, dead time, and parts parameters are achieved once thoughtful design, thus obtaining smart soft-switching performance and reduced voltage stress. A one hundred-W prototype has been realized and tested demonstrating its high feasibility and potency at full load and throughout dimming operations.
