PROJECT TITLE :

JFCS: A Color Modeling Java Software Based on Fuzzy Color Spaces

ABSTRACT:

This paper introduces JFCS (Java Fuzzy Color House), an open source software for modeling colors on the basis of fuzzy color areas, which is able to fill the semantic gap between the color illustration in computers and the subjective human perception. Fuzzy colours permit introducing semantics in the outline of color by using linguistic labels, taking under consideration the fuzzy boundaries between the illustration of color terms. The methodology for building fuzzy color areas implemented in JFCS was proposed by the authors in previous works, it's based on the paradigm of conceptual areas as well as fuzzy boundaries and considering a assortment of color names and corresponding crisp color representatives. During this sense, the necessary data for modeling fuzzy color spaces can be easily obtained from non-expert users, since the sole data required could be a representative crisp color for each linguistic color term to be modeled. The software is implemented in Java and it includes many graphical tools for building different sorts of spaces with totally different characteristics in an simple manner. These are needed to be according to the different nature of the colours a user needs to model. Membership degrees of pixels in images to every fuzzy color in a very certain fuzzy color area will be obtained. Tools for 3D visualization of fuzzy color areas, furthermore for describing colors and mapping pixels in pictures in term of linguistic labels, are included in JFCS.
