Miniature Moisture Sensor Based on Ultracapacitor Technology
PROJECT TITLE :
Miniature Moisture Sensor Based on Ultracapacitor Technology
ABSTRACT:
This paper introduces a replacement ultraminiature, ultrahigh sensitivity moisture sensor that's based mostly on ultracapacitor technology. An ultracapacitor is assembled from standard activated carbon electrodes, however, not like ordinary ultracapacitors, no liquid electrolyte exists within the device. The ultracapacitor electrodes are placed on both sides of a layer of porous silicon in that potassium hydroxide in powder form is embedded. As moisture penetrates the porous silicon layer, a liquid electrolyte starts to create. The conductivity of the electrolyte, and hence the capacitance of the ultracapacitor assembly, increase as the quantity of moisture will increase. In the current prototype, a rise within the relative humidity from 5percent to eightyp.c ends up in a capacitance variation from zero to seventeen $murm F$. The sensor can be terribly useful for monitoring moisture penetration inside tiny electronic devices and packages that are sensitive to moisture.
