PROJECT TITLE :

A Self-Calibrated Bang–Bang Phase Detector for Low-Offset Time Signal Processing

ABSTRACT:

This brief describes a self-calibrated bang–bang part detector that has been implemented in an exceedingly delay-locked loop (DLL) stabilized time-to-digital converter for top-energy physics applications. A two-state design is proposed, with a fervent calibration state that measures the internal static section offset and compensates for this offset in the opposite measurement state. The calibration is clear to the DLL, runs continuously to atone for radiation induced drifts, and shows a measured static section offset variation of only 0.five ps over totally different samples. The circuit has been designed and processed in an exceedingly forty-nm CMOS technology.
