Demonstration of Mode-Evolutional Multiplexer for Few-Mode Fibers Using Stacked Polymer Waveguide PROJECT TITLE :Demonstration of Mode-Evolutional Multiplexer for Few-Mode Fibers Using Stacked Polymer WaveguideABSTRACT:Mode-evolutional multi/demultiplexer for few-mode fibers was demonstrated using stacked polymer waveguides. Attributable to the stacked structure, $mboxTE_00$, $mboxTE_10$, and $mboxTE_01$ modes, which correspond to $mboxLP_01$, $mboxLP_11^ mathrmeven$, and $mboxLP_11^mathrmodd$ modes, respectively, were selectively excited by the fabricated multiplexer. The mode excitation ratio was evaluated from the near-field patterns of excited modes employing a mode analysis technique called the averaged interference component technique that we tend to have developed. The evaluated mode excitation ratio was starting from 6.4 to 9.7 dB for each transverse electrical (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarizations of first-order TE modes among the middle and long wavelength (CL)-band.
