PROJECT TITLE :

Evaluation of Parallel Coordinates: Overview, Categorization and Guidelines for Future Research

ABSTRACT:

The parallel coordinates technique is widely used for the analysis of multivariate information. During recent decades vital analysis efforts are devoted to exploring the applicability of the technique and to expand upon it, resulting in a very variety of extensions. Of those several analysis activities, a surprisingly little range concerns user-centred evaluations investigating actual use and usability issues for various tasks, information and domains. The result's a transparent lack of convincing evidence to support and guide uptake by users as well as future analysis directions. To address these issues this paper contributes an intensive literature survey of what has been tired the realm of user-centred evaluation of parallel coordinates. These evaluations are divided into four categories primarily based on characterization of use, derived from the survey. Based mostly on the info from the survey and also the categorization combined with the authors' expertise of operating with parallel coordinates, a group of pointers for future analysis directions is proposed.
