Internet of Things: A Survey on Enabling Technologies, Protocols, and Applications

PROJECT TITLE :

Internet of Things: A Survey on Enabling Technologies, Protocols, and Applications

ABSTRACT:

This paper provides an summary of the Internet of Things (IoT) with stress on enabling technologies, protocols, and application problems. The IoT is enabled by the newest developments in RFID, smart sensors, communication technologies, and Internet protocols. The basic premise is to own sensible sensors collaborate directly without human involvement to deliver a new category of applications. This revolution in Internet, mobile, and machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies will be seen as the primary section of the IoT. In the coming years, the IoT is anticipated to bridge numerous technologies to enable new applications by connecting physical objects along in support of intelligent call making. This paper starts by providing a horizontal overview of the IoT. Then, we have a tendency to offer an outline of some technical details that pertain to the IoT enabling technologies, protocols, and applications. Compared to different survey papers in the sector, our objective is to produce a more thorough outline of the most relevant protocols and application issues to enable researchers and application developers to get up to hurry quickly on how the various protocols match along to deliver desired functionalities while not having to go through RFCs and therefore the standards specifications. We also give an overview of some of the key IoT challenges presented in the recent literature and give a outline of related analysis work. Moreover, we have a tendency to explore the relation between the IoT and alternative emerging technologies as well as massive information analytics and cloud and fog computing. We tend to additionally gift the requirement for higher horizontal integration among IoT services. Finally, we have a tendency to gift detailed service use-cases to illustrate how the different protocols presented in the paper fit together to deliver desired IoT services.
