Robust Estimation Method of $K$-Distribution Shape Parameter

PROJECT TITLE :

Robust Estimation Method of $K$-Distribution Shape Parameter

ABSTRACT:

Parameter estimation for the -distribution plays an important role in marine radar and sonar applications. However, an outlier in the observation is an obstacle to achieving accurate and robust estimation solution of the -distribution parameter. If not handled properly, the results of estimation might be disturbed severely. To handle this downside, this paper proposes a shape parameter estimation algorithm based mostly on robust statistics. In distinction to the standard methodology of moment (MoM) approach, the proposed algorithm will scale back the interference of the outlier considerably, meanwhile retaining a high estimation potency. Simulation results confirm the good performance of the proposed method.
