High-performance high dynamic range image generation by inverted local patterns

PROJECT TITLE :

High-performance high dynamic range image generation by inverted local patterns

ABSTRACT:

This study presents an image processing algorithm capable of generating high dynamic range (HDR) images from a single frame. On the premise of liquid crystal display (LCD) backlight theory, the proposed algorithm uses an inverted native pattern approach to regulate the histogram of lighting distribution. To enhance processing efficiency, sampled images are classified into 3 sorts in keeping with exposure characteristics, that are used to get appropriate processing factor. The inverting factor is mixed with the initial sample to darken the bright areas and brighten the dark areas in the pictures. Brightness enhancement and auto-gain management are then added to expand the vary of the gray levels. Authors' results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed HDR algorithm in improving shadow details. Additionally, single-pass processing is employed to scale back computational complexity, making the algorithm applicable for low-power portable cameras and video recorders.
