Remote Sensing of Spatiotemporal Variation of Apparent Optical Properties in Bohai Sea PROJECT TITLE :Remote Sensing of Spatiotemporal Variation of Apparent Optical Properties in Bohai SeaABSTRACT:It's been presented during this study, the evaluation of remote sensing reflectance (Rrs) derived from the atmospheric correction of Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard Aqua satellite. A switching algorithm was developed for the atmospheric correction. The evaluation shows that MODIS measured Rrs at visible bands compare fairly well with in situ Rrs, with the mean ratios ranging from 0.95five to 1.374. The spatiotemporal variation of Rrs in Bohai ocean is characterised using MODIS knowledge from July 2002 to June 2014. It is noted from the time series of monthly mean Rrs and wind speed a time lag for the response of Rrs to wind. Important linear relationship is found between the monthly mean Rrs and wind speed, with the correlation coefficients abundant over those between the annual mean Rrs and total river discharge, indicating that wind plays a more necessary role than river discharge in determining the variation of Rrs in Bohai sea. Robust seasonal variation is observed within the monthly mean Rrs, that is the lowest during July and August and increases to the maximum in January-February and then decreases. Using the whole archive of MODIS/Aqua information over Bohai ocean, this study documents the apparent optical properties that serve as an indicator of sediment transport, providing a coffee-cost and efficient manner for monitoring the marine environmental amendment and for demonstrating the impact from sediment transport on coastal morphology and ecosystem.
