A Lightweight Secure Scheme for Detecting Provenance Forgery and Packet DropAttacks in Wireless Sensor Networks

PROJECT TITLE :

A Lightweight Secure Scheme for Detecting Provenance Forgery and Packet DropAttacks in Wireless Sensor Networks

ABSTRACT:

Massive-scale sensor networks are deployed in various application domains, and the information they collect are utilized in call-making for vital infrastructures. Data are streamed from multiple sources through intermediate processing nodes that aggregate info. A malicious adversary might introduce extra nodes in the network or compromise existing ones. Therefore, assuring high data trustworthiness is crucial for correct call-making. Information provenance represents a key issue in evaluating the trustworthiness of sensor information. Provenance management for sensor networks introduces many difficult necessities, such as low energy and bandwidth consumption, economical storage and secure transmission. In this paper, we have a tendency to propose a completely unique light-weight scheme to securely transmit provenance for sensor data. The proposed technique depends on in-packet Bloom filters to encode provenance. We introduce efficient mechanisms for provenance verification and reconstruction at the base station. In addition, we have a tendency to extend the secure provenance scheme with functionality to detect packet drop attacks staged by malicious information forwarding nodes. We have a tendency to evaluate the proposed technique each analytically and empirically, and the results prove the effectiveness and potency of the lightweight secure provenance theme in detecting packet forgery and loss attacks.
