Robust Multi-Stage Substation Expansion Planning Considering Stochastic Demand

ABSTRACT:

This paper presents a completely unique mixed-integer second-order cone programming model for the strong multi-stage substation enlargement planning downside considering stochastic demand. The stochastic nature of the stress is taken into account through a robust model that uses likelihood constraints to ensure that the substation capability limits are happy inside a given robustness likelihood. Furthermore, a multi-objective formulation that takes under consideration the total expected expansion planning value and also the robustness probability connected to the violation of the substation capacity limits is proposed. The optimal resolution of the proposed model is guaranteed by the convexity of the formulation, when classical optimization techniques are used in its answer. The results found (construction of latest substations, reinforcement of existing substations, and repair space of every substation) for two test systems demonstrate the efficiency and robustness of the proposed model. Additionally, Monte Carlo simulations were administrated so as to guage the extent to which the solutions found were in a position to satisfy the substation capacity limits.
