An Active Voltage-Balancing Method Based on Phase-Shifted PWM for Stacked Multicell Converters PROJECT TITLE :An Active Voltage-Balancing Method Based on Phase-Shifted PWM for Stacked Multicell ConvertersABSTRACT:This paper proposes and evaluates a vigorous voltage-balancing technique for stacked multicell converters (SMCs) using section-shifted pulse width modulation. The method is easy to implement and will be applied to SMCs with any number of levels. The proposed technique balances the voltages of the capacitors by modifying the duty cycle of each switch of the SMC employing a proportional controller. The direction of the output current and the crossed effect among the duty cycles of the switches is taken into account and used to enhance capacitor voltage balance. The performance of the proposed voltage-balancing technique is verified experimentally for various loads, such as linear and nonlinear hundreds, and beneath transient conditions.
