PROJECT TITLE :

Using Augmented Reality to Elicit Pretend Play for Children with Autism

ABSTRACT:

Children with autism spectrum condition (ASC) suffer from deficits or developmental delays in symbolic thinking. In specific, they're usually found lacking in fake play throughout early childhood. Researchers believe that they encounter issue in generating and maintaining mental illustration of pretense plus the immediate reality. We tend to have developed an interactive system that explores the potential of Augmented Reality (AR) technology to visually conceptualize the illustration of pretense among an open-ended play surroundings. Results from an empirical study involving youngsters with ASC aged 4 to 7 demonstrated a vital improvement of faux play in terms of frequency, period and relevance using the AR system as compared to a non laptop-assisted scenario. We have a tendency to investigated individual variations, talent transfer, system usability and limitations of the proposed AR system. We have a tendency to discuss design guidelines for future AR systems for children with ASC and alternative pervasive developmental disorders.
