A Method to Measure Packet Processing Time of Hosts Using High-Speed Transmission Lines
ABSTRACT:
During this paper, we propose a scheme to measure the packet processing time of a host using Internet Control Message Protocol packets and a packet-capture line card in the identical network section. The proposed theme is not affected by clock synchronization, the packet generation time, and therefore the transmission speeds of the host below measurement. We tend to show the experimental results of the proposed scheme tested on totally different hosts and below totally different transmission speeds, together with 1000 Mb/s.
