PROJECT TITLE:

A 12-Sector Space Vector Switching Scheme for Performance Improvement of Matrix Converter Based DTC of IM Drive - 2015

ABSTRACT:

This paper presents an instantaneous torque control (DTC) switching theme based on the direct matrix converter (DMC) using a 12-facet polygonal house vector for variable speed management of an induction motor (IM). The standard DTC theme-primarily based matrix converter (MC) is limited by 60° sectors of both flux and voltage vectors, that introduce a high torque ripple. The proposed technique utilizes twelve thirty° sectors of each flux and voltage vectors to extend the degrees of freedom for selection of correct vectors and scale back the torque ripple. The proposed switching scheme for the MC-based DTC of an IM drive choose the acceptable switching vectors for control of torque with small variations of the stator flux among the hysteresis band. This improves the degrees of freedom in choosing the vector algorithm and therefore the torque ripple similarly. Furthermore, during the large torque demand, the possibilities of transgressing reference vector limits, that are enclosed by twelve-side polygonal area vector, are reduced. Extensive simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the twelve-sector area vector switching scheme for the DTC of an IM fed by the DMC.
