An Efficient Conditional Privacy-Preserving Authentication Scheme for Vehicular Sensor Networks Without Pairings - 2016

ABSTRACT:

Constructing intelligent and economical transportation systems for trendy metropolitan areas has become a terribly important quest for nations possessing metropolitan cities with ever-increasing populations. A brand new trend is the development of sensible vehicles with multiple sensors ready to dynamically kind a brief vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) or a vehicular sensor network (VSN). At the side of a wireless-enabled roadside unit (RSU) network, drivers in an exceedingly VSN will efficiently exchange vital or urgent traffic information and build driving choices accordingly. So as to support secure communication and driver privacy for vehicles during a VSN, we develop a new identity-based mostly (ID-based mostly) signature based mostly on the elliptic curve cryptosystem (ECC) and then adopt it to propose a novel conditional privacy-preserving authentication theme based on our invented ID-primarily based signature. This theme provides secure authentication method for messages transmitted between vehicles and RSUs. A batch message verification mechanism is also supported by the proposed scheme to extend the message processing throughput of RSUs. To more enhance theme potency, each pairing operation and MapToPoint operation aren't applied in the proposed authentication theme. As compared with existing pseudo-ID-based mostly authentication solutions for VSN, this paper shows that the proposed scheme has better performance in terms of time consumption.
