Voltage stability analysis of radial distribution networks using catastrophe theory

PROJECT TITLE :

Voltage stability analysis of radial distribution networks using catastrophe theory

ABSTRACT :

The voltage stability downside of distribution networks is associated with a fast voltage drop as a result of of heavy system load. The decline of voltage stability level will prohibit the increase of load served by distribution firms. One of the serious consequences of the voltage stability downside may be a system blackout, and this drawback has received much attention of distribution companies. In this study, a brand new voltage stability index (VSI) is developed for identifying the foremost sensitive bus to the voltage collapse in radial distribution network. The analysis is predicated on the catastrophe theory to find a brand new VSI and therefore the voltage stability boundary of a distribution system. 2 tested 15- and thirty-bus systems analysed to relinquish an illustration of the feasibility of the proposed methodology.
