PROJECT TITLE :

Synchrophasor based thermal overhead line monitoring considering line spans and thermal transients

ABSTRACT:

A synchrophasor-based thermal line monitoring theme enabling the measurement of line spans and therewith temperature profiles is presented. More, the measurement of thermal transients with synchrophasors has become feasible by incorporating non-steady state heat equations and local weather information. The proof of concept is executed with an electro-thermal line modelling approach in combination with sensitivity analyses of varied power flow scenarios, knowledge processing time steps and weather updating rates. It's been shown, that the relative measurement error of this method is ±0.2percent at ideal thermal static and ±two.0p.c at ideal thermal transient conditions for varied load currents near to the first temperature. Finally, the accuracy at highly volatile climatic conditions yet because the suitability for practical implementation is discussed.
