Comparison of Two SVPWM Control Strategies of Five-Phase Fault-Tolerant Permanent-Magnet Motor

PROJECT TITLE :

Comparison of Two SVPWM Control Strategies of Five-Phase Fault-Tolerant Permanent-Magnet Motor

ABSTRACT:

Five-phase fault-tolerant permanent-magnet motors incorporate the deserves of high-potency and high fault-tolerant capability. By adopting the fault-tolerant management technique, these motors will continue operating even fault occurs. This paper proposes two space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) control methods, specifically the symmetric one and the asymmetric one. The novelty of the proposed SVPWM control methods includes two elements. One is that voltage vector locations in both SVPWM ways are reconfigured primarily based on a replacement vector house diagram. Another is that the method of switching vector calculation beneath fault is the same as that under healthy condition. A 5-phase fault-tolerant permanent-magnet motor drive is developed and also the proposed fault-tolerant management methods are evaluated in terms of the torque, voltage, current waveforms, and total harmonic distortion. Simulated and experimental results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis.
