A Modified RLS Algorithm for Online Estimation of Low-Frequency Oscillations in Power Systems

ABSTRACT:

A number of methods are proposed and implemented to boost system damping against low-frequency electromechanical oscillations in the ability system. Among these, versatile ac transmission systems (FACTS) will be used to supply power oscillation damping (POD) function to the Power System. The planning of the POD algorithms in these devices needs estimation of the ability oscillation frequency elements and this is principally achieved through the utilization of varied filter combinations. However, these filter-primarily based solutions are characterised by low bandwidth to extract the desired signal elements accurately, and this limits the dynamic performance of the FACTS controllers.
