Electroviscous effect of ionic liquids measured by using shear horizontal wave

ABSTRACT:

The viscosity properties of an electrolyte resolution, which consists of one-methyl-3- propylimidazolium iodide (MPI-I) as an electrolyte and ethylisopropylsulfone (EiPS) as a solvent, using the shear horizontal (SH) wave device are investigated. The viscosities with several concentrations of the electrolyte in solutions are measured. The viscosity increases with increasing concentration of the electrolyte. The viscosity additionally increases with increasing applied voltage and depends on not applied voltage but applied electrical field. Furthermore, the analytical solutions of the physical properties of the SH wave propagation are derived.
