PROJECT TITLE :

Millimeter-Wave Antenna Using Two-Sectioned Metamaterial Medium

ABSTRACT:

In this letter, a two-sectioned metamaterial medium is designed to provide 2 different effective refractive indices in each of its parts. This metamaterial is integrated on the substrate in front of a printed dipole antenna to produce a low-profile technique for tilting the antenna beam that operates at the frequency of sixty GHz. Using this method, a tilt angle of 32 ° in the E-plane is achieved and, not like the other standard ways, the gain does not drop whereas the beam is tilted, and in fact a gain enhancement of 2.four dB is observed. The presented metamaterial section will not have an effect on the antenna matching and bandwidth over the frequency range of 57-sixty four GHz. To verify the simulation results, the antenna has been fabricated and measured.
