In a solar photovoltaic array, a study of Maximum Power Point Tracking MPPT Techniques was conducted.

PROJECT TITLE :

Study of Maximum Power Point Tracking MPPT Techniques in a solar Photovoltaic array

ABSTRACT:

In photovoltaic (PV) systems, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is used to maximise PV array output power regardless of temperature and irradiation conditions, as well as load electrical characteristics. This paper shows how to use a PIC18F452 microcontroller to implement perturbation and observation (P&O) and incremental conductance (IncCon) algorithms to track the maximum power generation from a PV system. Because of their low cost and ease of implementation, these algorithms are widely utilised. The proposed P&O and IncCon algorithms are implemented and tested under a variety of loads, with the results assessed and compared. The results reveal that the IncCon algorithm performs better than the P&O algorithm in tracking MPP, and that the experimental results of the IncCon algorithm imply that the system is feasible and functional with high efficiency.
