Controllable Phase and Amplitude Single-stage AC-AC Converter

PROJECT TITLE :

Single-stage AC-AC Converter With Controllable Phase and Amplitude

ABSTRACT:

In order to regulate power flow in the grid, a single-stage ac-ac converter with variable phase and amplitude (ACCPA) was designed, which can regulate the output voltage phase and amplitude at the same time. All of the components of the single-stage ACCPA can be connected directly to the high-voltage grid, including a three-phase output transformer, a three-phase filter, and a three-phase input transformer. With fewer switches, a single-stage ACCPA's topology is simpler, and its conversion circuit is only one stage compared to the two-stage cascaded ACCPA and the -model ACCPA. The capacitors of the three-phase output filter are connected in a triangular configuration ( type) so that the output voltages only contain the fundamental component. The phase and amplitude of the output voltage of a single-stage ACCPA can be independently controlled by modifying three control parameters in the duty ratio. Single-stage ACCPAs with varying regulatory ranges can be created by using separate input and output transformer connection groups. Single-stage ACCPA's working principle was studied in detail, and a prototype was built. The results of the experiments matched those of the theoretical study.
