ProGuard: Detecting Malicious Accounts in Social-Network-Based Online Promotions - 2017

ABSTRACT:

Online Social Networks (OSNs) gradually integrate monetary capabilities by enabling the usage of real and virtual currency. They function new platforms to host a variety of business activities, such as on-line promotion events, where users will presumably get virtual currency as rewards by taking part in such events. Each OSNs and business partners are significantly involved when attackers instrument a set of accounts to collect virtual currency from these events, which build these events ineffective and lead to important money loss. It becomes of nice importance to proactively detecting these malicious accounts before the net promotion activities and subsequently decreases their priority to be rewarded. During this paper, we tend to propose a unique system, specifically ProGuard, to accomplish this objective by systematically integrating features that characterize accounts from 3 views together with their general behaviors, their recharging patterns, and the usage of their currency. We tend to have performed intensive experiments primarily based on knowledge collected from the Tencent QQ, a world leading OSN with built-in financial management activities. Experimental results have demonstrated that our system can accomplish a high detection rate of ninety six.sixty seven% at a terribly low false positive rate of 0.3percent.
