Distributed Faulty Node Detection in Delay Tolerant Networks: Design and Analysis - 2018

ABSTRACT:

Propagation of faulty data is a essential issue. In case of Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN) in specific, the rare meeting events require that nodes are efficient in propagating solely correct data. For that purpose, mechanisms to rapidly establish attainable faulty nodes ought to be developed. Distributed faulty node detection has been addressed within the literature within the context of sensor and vehicular networks, however already proposed solutions suffer from long delays in identifying and isolating nodes manufacturing faulty information. This is often unsuitable to DTNs where nodes meet solely rarely. This Project proposes a absolutely distributed and simply implementable approach to allow every DTN node to rapidly determine whether or not its sensors are producing faulty information. The dynamical behavior of the proposed algorithm is approximated by some continuous-time state equations, whose equilibrium is characterized. The presence of misbehaving nodes, making an attempt to perturb the faulty node detection process, is additionally taken into consideration. Detection and false alarm rates are estimated by comparing each theoretical and simulation results. Numerical results assess the effectiveness of the proposed answer and can be used to present guidelines for the algorithm style.
