Supporting Negotiation Behavior with Haptics-Enabled Human-Computer Interfaces

PROJECT TITLE :

Supporting Negotiation Behavior with Haptics-Enabled Human-Computer Interfaces

ABSTRACT :

An active analysis goal for human-computer interaction is to allow humans to speak with computers in an intuitive and natural fashion, particularly in real-life interaction situations. One approach that has been advocated to realize this has been to make laptop systems with human-like qualities and capabilities. In this paper, we tend to gift insight on how human-laptop interaction can be enriched by using the computers with behavioral patterns that naturally seem in human-human negotiation eventualities. For this purpose, we have a tendency to introduce a 2-party negotiation game specifically designed for studying the effectiveness of haptic and audio-visual cues in conveying negotiation connected behaviors. The game is centered around a real-time continuous 2-party negotiation situation based mostly on the existing game-theory and negotiation literature. During the game, humans are confronted with a computer opponent, that will display completely different behaviors, like concession, competition, and negotiation. Through a user study, we tend to show that the behaviors that are related to human negotiation can be incorporated into human-computer interaction, and also the addition of haptic cues provides a statistically significant increase within the human-recognition accuracy of machine-displayed behaviors. As well as aspects of conveying these negotiation-related behaviors, we tend to conjointly target and report game-theoretical aspects of the interaction expertise. In specific, we have a tendency to show that, as reported in the sport-theory literature, certain negotiation strategies like tit-for-tat might generate most combined utility for the negotiating parties, providing an wonderful balance between the energy spent by the user and also the combined utility of the negotiating parties.
