Impact of Retransmission Limit on Preamble Contention in LTE-Advanced Network

ABSTRACT:

LTE-Advanced networks use random access based mostly on preambles transmitted in keeping with multi-channel slotted Aloha principles. The random access is controlled through a limit W on the amount of transmission attempts and a timeout period for uniform backoff when a collision. We tend to model the LTE-Advanced random access system by formulating the equilibrium condition for the ratio of the amount of requests successful within the permitted range of transmission attempts to those successful in one attempt. We have a tendency to prove that for W ≤ 8 there is solely one equilibrium operating purpose and for W ≥ nine there are three operating points if the request load p is between load boundaries p1 and p2. We have a tendency to analytically establish these load boundaries further because the corresponding system operating points. We have a tendency to analyze the throughput and delay of successful requests at the operating points and validate the analytical results through simulations.
