Using the national eID card, a blockchain-based autonomous notarial system

PROJECT TITLE :

Blockchain-Based Autonomous Notarization System Using National eID Card

ABSTRACT:

In recent years, the proliferation of information and Communication technology has led to the development of e-government, which can be defined as the electronic replacement of services traditionally provided by the government. It has been suggested that Blockchain technology is compatible with e-government, which has resulted in a number of studies investigating the possibility. The process of notarization, which is one of the functions that are performed by the government, has been specifically investigated for the possibility of adopting blockchain technology. However, due to the fact that the notary public is required to validate the contents of the document during the process of notarization, it has been challenging to replace them with smart contracts. In this investigation, we are only concerned with fixed-date notarizations, and we suggest developing a system for fully automated notarization by combining a national electronic identification card with public key infrastructure and smart contracts. A notarization known as a fixed date enables a public notary to attest to the existence of a document, regardless of the veracity of the information that is contained within the document. Because of this, it is possible for it to be replaced by a smart contract. When an electronic document is signed with a national eID card, our proposed system will automatically authenticate both the document's creator and the document itself. Additionally, the transaction receipt that is generated when the information is stored on the blockchain will be used as a certificate of notarization for the document. There is no longer a requirement for a verification authority as a result of the use of smart contracts to carry out the verification of the data that has been digitally signed. As further proof of concept, we demonstrate how effective the suggested method is by applying it to a Japanese use case.
