Modernized Fare Control System in Light Rails [Transportation Systems]

ABSTRACT:

Scomi Engineering Berhad is up grading the signaling system on the Kuala Lumpur Monorail for Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasar ana). It is a wholly owned government company established by the Malaysian Ministry of Finance to facilitate, undertake, and expedite public infra structure projects approved by the government. Prasarana and its group of companies are also asset owners and operators of several public transport providers, such as Ampang and Kelana Jaya lines, KL Monorail system, bus operations in Klang Valley and Penang, as well as the cable car services in Langkawi. The scope of the signaling contract includes a new signaling system for the main line and depot, and a new Operational Control Center. As part of the contract, Thales will install onboard ETCS Level 1 computers on 12 new vehicles. The con tract has a fast implementation goal, with its final completion by Novem ber 2012.
